Health Insurance through NY State of Health
The Small Business Development Center provides assistance to both individuals and employers who are looking for health insurance through NY State of Health. Open enrollment is now closed for individuals, but those who qualify for Medicaid or those who have had a change of life can still apply. Open enrollment is always available for small businesses.
Open enrollment for individuals has ended for 2014. However, you may be able to enroll if you are eligible for Medicaid or Child Health Plus, or if you are an American Indian or Alaska Native.
You may also be able to enroll if you are within 60 days of a life-changing event, such as:
- Moving to New York State
- Getting married or divorced
- Having or adopting a child
- Becoming a citizen, national, or lawfully present individual
- Losing employer insurance
- No longer being on a parent's health plan
If you don't qualify, the next time you can enroll in a health plan through NY State of Health is November 15, 2014 for coverage that begins in January 2015.
Small businesses can enroll at any time of the year.
