Intro Courses

This hands-on course is designed for those with little or no computer experience. Learn basic computer tasks such as working with Windows, navigating the web, using e-mail, setting up a PC, and basic word processing.

Are you new to the internet? This course will guide you through the basics and give you the tools to navigate the web. Learn how to browse and search the web, set up an e-mail account, buy products online, and understand social media.


Microsoft Word 2013: Part I

#6401: Mar. 17 & 19 (T/R), 6-9 p.m., CARN 108, $107

Improve your word processing skills and take advantage of all the great features the newest version of Microsoft Word 2013 has to offer. You will create, revise, and save documents for future use. You will also learn the interface, create and use autocorrect entries, spell and use grammar check, thesaurus, and find and replace features. In addition, you will insert and remove page breaks, adjust margins, change line spacing, set, modify and remove tabs, cut, copy and paste text, and create a mail merge for letters, labels or envelopes. Microsoft Word 2013: Part II

Looking for more advanced word processing skills in Microsoft Word 2013? You will work with tables: creating, sorting, performing calculations, and adjusting properties. You will also create and edit documents which include Word Art, clip art, drop caps, auto shapes, text boxes, and other objects. Use your creative side as you format a newsletter, trying out format changes using built-in and custom styles. Create and edit templates that will give your work a consistently professional look and save you time. Bring drab documents to life quickly by using the easy routines you learn in this class. Microsoft Excel 213: Part II

Advance your Microsoft Excel skills even more! You will learn: managing multipage worksheets; freezing headings and splitting worksheet windows; adding graphics to worksheets; creating, saving and using templates; locking and unlocking cells; applying worksheet protection by setting a password; and attaching a digital signature. Also covered will be creating and managing multiple-sheet workbooks; copying formatting between worksheets; using linked formulas; creating hyperlinks to areas within the workbook and to other documents; creating and modifying tables that can be sorted and filtered; and hiding detail data using the outline and grouping commands.
