Adult Sailing

Our knowledgeable sailing instructor will help crews learn to maneuver a small sailboat on the open water. By the end of

the lessons you will know the language of sailing, the rules of boating, and how to solve problems that can come up while

you are on the water. Classes will take place at the Dunkirk Yacht Club, Lakeshore Drive, Dunkirk, NY on Lake Erie.


Additional information:

A swimming evaluation will take place for all students during class on June 23rd. This evaluation will include the ability to tread water and swim wearing a life jacket with clothing. This is not a swimming test.

On July 18th you will get a chance to sail on the Shark racing boats. (Details provided at a later date).

Class requirement: a well- fitting U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket.

Cement Sculpting Basics

Participants will learn how to sculpt using cement and basic materials. The materials will be used to create 2 and 3 dimensional art like the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. This is a hands-on course that will allow you to work with the materials to create your own sculptures during class under the watchful eye of your instructor. Class will be held in the JCC North County Center main building in the biology lab. you will be provided with all required materials.

Youth Sailing - Ages 12-16

Spend the week learning how to safely handle a small sailboat on the water. Students will learn the language of sailing, how to boat safely, the rules of boating, and how to solve potential problems that could occur on the water. Under the watchful eye of their instructors, student teams will

work together to sail 14ft. Pintail sailboats. They will put their skills to the test and learn how to work together as a team to keep the crew and vessel safe. Lessons will be held at the Dunkirk Yacht Club, Lakeshore Drive, Dunkirk, NY on Lake Erie.

DMV Points Insurance Reduction/5-Hour Prelicensing Course

Points/Insurance Reduction Courses

The Point/Insurance Reduction Program, offered through the National Traffic Safety Institute and approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles, offers participants a way to reduce driver record violation points and/or insurance premiums. Saturday and daytime classes have a 1/2 hour lunch on your own. Please bring your driver’s license to class. Note: Students must arrive at this class promptly by 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. If you are late, you will not be admitted. We strictly adhere to this policy. This applies to every JCC location.
