We all want to feel less stressed. Take this class where participants will learn how to train their body to let go of stress and experience deep relaxation. The session will focus on laughing, post-isometric relaxations, and special breathing exercises that can have remarkable and profound restorative effects. Lily Dale Experience

Would you like to visit the Lily Dale Assembly, the world’s largest center for the science, philosophy, and religion of Spiritualism? Learn about Lily Dale, spirit communication, spiritual healing, and Spiritualism from Lily Dale resident and registered medium Willa White. This fun, informative class will be followed by the experience of attending a public demonstration of mediumship and spiritual healing, with a brief Q & A afterward. This is an excellent opportunity to explore facets of mediumship and healing, and to visit historic Lily Dale, celebrating its 139th year. Class will meet at The Assembly Hall, located on the corner of Cleveland Avenue and Library Street, Lily Dale, NY 14752. Please be prepared to do some walking and climb a few stairs.

Personality and the Spiritual Aura

Take this hands-on class where you’ll gain an understanding of our individual personalities and how the five senses and three organs influence them. Learn what you can do to enhance your personality and how this can positively impact one’s aura as well as understand what auras are and their meanings. Participants will be instructed on how to see auras and what the colors of an aura represent. Additionally, practice some of the skills learned in order to begin to see colors in people and in plants.

Recognizing Spirit Contact

Would you like to recognize the ways your loved ones in Spirit are communicating with you? Do you receive signs or other communication from them already and want to understand them more? Then this is the class for you. Join us for a lively evening of looking at the ways the "dead" communicate with us as well as learn techniques that can foster contact. You may be your own best medium!

Clairvoyance and Symbol Interpretation

Symbols are an important facet of clairvoyance and the visual imagery associated with seeing intuitively. Perhaps more than any other tool, images and symbols can provide a deeply personal look into self-discovery and one’s search for individual and spiritual meaning. In this class, we will discuss how to look clairvoyantly for the symbols in your life and explore methods of symbol interpretation for meditation, dream interpretation, spirit communication, and most importantly, personal awareness. Come and learn how to work with the symbols, images, and messages of your soul.

Tibetan Chair Massage

Tibetan chair massage is a therapy that incorporates gentle movement and promotes self-healing. This interactive, hands-on class will guide participants through the steps of Tibetan chair massage. Participants will be given a demonstration and explanation of each movement in detail as well as practice the techniques shown. Tibetan massage has many benefits including: promotes relaxation, assists with meditation, increases flexibly and movement, and enhances body functioning. Please wear comfortable clothing.

Tibetan Meditation

Deep meditation is the best form of meditation because it relaxes the body and releases energy of the mind. Take this unique class where individuals will be introduced to two different types of meditation based on Tibetan philosophy: movement meditation and visual meditation. Both types of meditation allow individuals to achieve full body meditation, a much deeper form of meditation than traditional practices. Benefits of meditation include: decreased mind chatter, increased circulation, and relaxes or harmonizes breath. Please dress in comfortable clothing.

The Art of Social Dancing: Beginning

Put some fun in your life – try dancing! Take this class where participants will learn general techniques and practical applications of dancing, as well as learn leading and following techniques. Class will feature two types of dance: a basic ballroom, slow tempo, dance such as the Foxtrot and medium tempo dances such as Swing, Jitterbug, Cha Cha, and Rumba. No dance experience necessary. To ensure that everyone has a dance partner, registrations must be in groups of two. Wear comfortable, snug fitting shoes with a smooth bottom.

The Art of Social Dancing: Advanced

Take the next step and dance your way into this class as participants will expand upon basic and practical applications of social dancing. Learn to fine tune your technique as well as your lead and following skills as you learn fast tempo dances such as the Mambo, Swing, Jitterbug, Cha Cha, and Rumba. To ensure that everyone has a dance partner, registrations must be in groups of two. Wear comfortable, snug fitting shoes with a smooth bottom. Prerequisite: it is recommended that you have taken the Art of Social Dancing: Beginning before taking this class.

Beginning Tai Chi

This introductory class, which focuses on Yang Tai Chi, involves learning about the five elements which include breathing, movement, awareness exercises, meditation, and self-defense techniques. Additionally participants will learn movement styles which stretch and tone muscles. Tai Chi has widespread health benefits which include: stress reduction; increased balance, control, fitness and flexibility; a better focus; and higher energy levels. Over time, this class allows participants to gain the fundamental skills to move in to Tai Chi: The Next Level.

Tai Chi: The Next Level

Building upon the skills learned in the Beginning Tai Chi course, this class continues the Yang Tai Chi style which incorporates both slow movements and secondary forms with a faster pace. Additionally, it allows participants to gain a more in-depth understanding of how the body and mind work together to create balance and harmony. The benefits include a better outlook on life, better communication, better physical balance, and increased enlightenment and harmony. No class on Nov. 21.

Traditional White Crane Kung Fu

White Crane Kung Fu is a Northern Chinese martial art which is practiced throughout the world. This class is based on a combination of physical fitness, stretching, and traditional martial arts movements. Kung Fu is considered a non-aggressive defensive art. Individuals taking this may see the following benefits: feel secure and safe from a martial arts perspective, better physical fitness, increased ability to stretch, and better outlook on life.

Pound®

POUND® is a group fitness class that combines cardio, strength training, and Pilates with drumming to achieve a full-body workout. Participants can expect to burn 500-900 calories per class! Using Ripstix®, weighted drumsticks designed specifically for exercising, POUND® was designed to transform drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out that targets your core muscle groups. POUND® is a unisex class with each song being completely modifiable for all skill and ability levels. POUND® effectively relieves stress, breaks boundaries, and transforms bodies. Class materials needed: yoga mat, water bottle, towel, and comfortable workout clothes. Ripstix® will be provided. No class on Nov. 22.

Zumba™

Be a part of the fastest growing fitness program in the country and take Zumba™. It's exercise in disguise! Zumba™ is a Latin inspired, dance-fitness program that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness program. It gives participants a full-body workout, targeting areas such as gluteals, legs, arms, core, abdominals, and the most important muscle in the body - the heart. Come join the fun! Wear comfortable clothes and athletic footwear, and bring water to class. No class on Nov. 22 (22 hrs), No class on Nov 24 (11 hrs).

Slow Flow Yoga

This yoga class is for individuals at all levels which teaches Hatha yoga postures, meant to release, stretch, and build body-mind-spirit awareness. Class will focus on safe alignment, building core and total-body strength, increasing flexibility, and   improving balance as well as concentration and breath control. Slow Flow yoga is smooth, yet challenging and is suitable for most abilities, including those who are new to the practice of yoga. Participants should be able to get up from and down on the floor several times throughout this class. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat to class. No class on Oct. 20 and Nov. 24.

Hatha Yoga

Take this introductory yoga class where participants will be taught a combination of physical postures, breath awareness, meditation, hands-on alignment, and deep relaxation. Additionally, get the benefits of aromatherapy throughout class. These sessions will give individuals the tools to practice yoga at home as well as give the foundational skills and knowledge to participate in any type of yoga class. Individuals will work at their own pace, following the instructor’s guidance. Please dress in comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel and water to class. No class on Nov. 20.

Jivamukti Open Yoga

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced yogi, the Jivamukti Open class encompasses all levels. Every class includes flowing asana (yoga pose) sequences, philosophical teachings, breathing practices, meditation, and deep relaxation. Additionally, get the benefits of aromatherapy throughout class. This class gives more advanced students the opportunity to refine their asana practice. Participants will work at their own pace, following the instructor’s guidance. Please dress in comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel and water to class. No class on Nov. 21.

Healing Shoulders: Exercises for Restoring Strength & Flexibility

Take this class where participants will learn a series of simple movements designed to relieve chronically tightened shoulder muscles and restore flexibility, movement, and health to the shoulders. You will have an opportunity to release habitual tensions, reduce shoulder pain, and improve your arm movement. Learn a short five-minute daily routine to help release pain and stress from the shoulders for the rest of your life. Please dress in comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel to class.

Healing Hands, Wrists and Elbows: Exercises for Restoring Strength & Flexibility

Attend class where you will learn ways to restore flexibility, movement, strength, and health to your hands, wrists, and elbows. You will have an opportunity to discover exactly which muscles in your hands and forearms are tight, weak, or tender and how to improve their function and potentially reduce pain.

Healing Necks: Exercises for Restoring Strength & Flexibility

Take this class where you will learn gentle techniques for restoring flexibility, strength, and health in the neck. You will have an opportunity to learn how to release tension from your neck, reduce neck pain, and improve neck movement. By the end of the class you should have a short list of exercises that are specific to your individual needs for improving your neck function. Please dress in comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel to class.

Art, Adventure, Social and History

Adult Sailing

Any individual age 18 or older, regardless of skill, is welcome to learn how to sail in a positive environment consisting of social interaction and fun. Upon completion of the course, participants will possess a foundational understanding, confidence and skills to sail. The class entails a total of 28 hours of instruction, which includes a combination of classroom and on-the-water instruction. Also included are a U.S. Sailing textbook, availability of appropriate sailing gear and use of CLCSF’s sailboats, which are 420’s. Limited scholarships available! Call 338.1005 for more info.


This course is designed to enable participants to:

  • Comprehend and Demonstrate knowledge of all points of sail.
  • Comprehend safety knowledge surrounding all aspects of sailing.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of the right terminology of the parts of the boat.
  • Demonstrate the skill of rigging.
  • Comprehend and Demonstrate ability to sail upwind and downwind.
  • Demonstrate the skill of starting and stopping.
  • Demonstrate the skill of tacking/jibing and tiller movement.
  • Demonstrate the skill of returning to dock.
  • Demonstrate the skill of up-righting a capsized boat.
Beginning Swedish (Just for Fun)

Have you always wanted to study Swedish culture and customs, and learn how to speak Swedish? Take this introductory class where you’ll combine exploring Swedish culture with learning the basics of this language giving you the recipe for a great class! This is an introductory Swedish language course that will incorporate many aspects of Sweden such as its history, culture, customs, and contemporary society.

DMV Points Insurance Reduction/5-Hour Prelicensing Course

Points/Insurance Reduction Courses

The Point/Insurance Reduction Program, offered through the National Traffic Safety Institute and approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles, offers participants a way to reduce driver record violation points and/or insurance premiums. Saturday and daytime classes have a 1/2 hour lunch on your own. Please bring your driver’s license to class. Note: Students must arrive at this class promptly by 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. If you are late, you will not be admitted. We strictly adhere to this policy. This applies to every JCC location.

5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

This five-hour NYS Department of Motor Vehicles’ pre-licensing course is for students who are in the process of applying for their NYS motor vehicle license. You must bring your photo permit to class. SPECIAL NOTE: Please arrive by 4 p.m. for check-in and paperwork process.
