Mission and Goals

To foster student success by helping students master course content and learn how to learn. Our goals are both short-term and long-term. The short-term goal is to work on a particular assignment; the long-term goal is to help students understand their learning profiles, so they can learn more effectively and efficiently.

Philosophy

Our focus is on learning  -  ours as well as that of our students. We strive in all that we do to demonstrate that we value the learning process and higher education. Part of learning is making mistakes, and we’ll all do that. The LACC is an ideal place to complete the learning cycle through reflection and action based on material presented in the classroom.

Learning often results in pleasure, but it is the pleasure of attention, not the pleasure of distraction (as in passive television watching or mindlessly reading a book). Learning is not always fun or easy, but by finding ways to make the process more effective and efficient, we can come to see ourselves as successful.
