Campus Activity Board
(CAB)
Want to have fun? Join CAB and help plan activities and events at JCC. Some CAB sponsored events include a welcome back party, spring fling, hypnotism program, comedians, and game shows. Students in this group travel to conferences during the year to experience firsthand musicians, comedians, and novelty acts that are touring the college circuit.
Funded by the FSA, the
Campus Activity Board presents a diversified program
of quality entertainment and activities for the college
community. Full and part-time students interested
in serving on the committee should contact the campus
life office. CAB meetings are held on Wednesdays from
12 - 1 p.m. in the
Clubs and Organizations Room in the College Center.
College Program Committee The
College Program Committee plans co-curricular events. Speakers, performing artists,
films, and entertainers are brought to the campus each year. Any interested student
may serve on the committee along with faculty members. Clubs
Cattaraugus County Campus Student Clubs
JCC has various chartered clubs and organizations for students to experience. Academic, cultural, recreational, special interests, professional and honor societies make up the variety of clubs available. Clubs chartered by the Senate are open to all FSA members and are a great way to meet people and get involved. Students interested in starting a new club can get more information by contacting the campus life office.
Joining a student club provides you with the opportunity to explore your interests, meet people, and develop valuable leadership and organizational skills through experience while you are having fun. If you would like information or would like to join a club, contact the campus life office.
Anime Club - The Animae Club looks at the culture and history of Japan through its animation programs. In addition, the group explores the differences between American and Japanese culture.
Art Club - Two or three Art Walks are scheduled each semester. Students who are interested in fine arts walk or drive to a local gallery, most often the Olean Public Library or Quick Center for the Arts at Saint Bonaventure University, to view current exhibitions. After the viewing, which is often accompanied by a talk by gallery education staff, students and sponsors meet for dessert and discussion at a local restaurant.
BASIC (Brothers & Sisters In Christ) - The purpose of this club is to enhance students’ spiritual growth. Club members have hosted concerts on campus to go toward fundraising efforts for local charities.
Earth Day Society - This group plans and organizes events to celebrate Earth Day, provides education, and promotes action and awareness about environmental issues.
Film Club - Members in this club not only watch and analyze movies, but also produce their own independent films.
Nursing Club - The Nursing Club isn’t exclusive to nursing majors. This group sponsors health-related activities and speakers throughout the year. A pinning ceremony for nursing majors closes out the year.
Ski Club - The Ski Club travels to Holiday Valley for skiing and snowboarding fun. Students who are members of the club are eligible for discounted passes and rentals.
Sign Language Club - Members meet regularly to enhance their knowledge of sign language. They have brought speakers to campus and participated in trips to enhance their learning of the language.
Student Ambassadors - Student Ambassadors serve as student representatives for JCC. They provide campus tours, promote JCC internally and externally, and offer community services.
Technology Club - Members focus on learning new types of technology and helping others on campus expand their knowledge of technology use.
