Alumnus Completes Basic Training
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Dale N. Ransom, who graduated from JCC in 2011, completed basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas, last fall! The eight-week program included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Like other airmen, Dale earned four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. But Dale went above and beyond and distinguished himself as an honors graduate! Dale is the son of Dale and Donna Ransom of Fredonia.

Alumnus Inducted to Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame
We're proud to announce that a JCC alumnus was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame on Feb. 17, 2014! Dan Lunetta, Class of 1978, was inducted along with seven others in a ceremony at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
A Jamestown native, Lunetta began his baseball career as a groundskeeper at College Stadium — now known as Russell Diethrick Park — in 1979 and became the general manager of the Jamestown Expos a year later. That began an administrative career in baseball that is nearing 35 years. Along the way, Lunetta has served as the director of team travel for the Montreal Expos and the Cincinnati Reds. After serving a year as the general manager for the Rochester Red Wings in 1990, Lunetta joined the Florida Marlins in 1991 and served in various positions there, including as the director of minor league administration, farm director, and director of baseball administration. Highlighting his tenure with the Marlins was their 1997 World Series win. In 2002, Lunetta became special assistant to the general manager of the Montreal Expos. Since 2004, he has been director of minor league operations for the Detroit Tigers and has helped the franchise to two World Series appearances.
